GRADUATE STUDY IN FORESTRY - SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY CARBONDALE Application Instructions Graduate study in forestry requires admission to both the Graduate School and the Department of Forestry. Eligibility for admission to SIUC is described in the current Graduate Catalogue available on line at: http://www.siu.edu/gradschl/catalog.htm. To be considered for admission to the Department of Forestry’s graduate program please complete and return the following materials to: Department of Forestry Southern Illinois University Carbondale Attn: Graduate Program 1205 Lincoln Drive, Room 184 Mail code 4411 Carbondale, IL 62901 1. Application for Admission to Graduate Study (Online application preferred) Guidelines for domestic students are available at: http://www.siu.edu/gradschl/admit-domestic.htm or http://www.siu.edu/gradschl/ Guidelines for international students are available at: http://www.siu.edu/gradschl/admit-international.htm 2. Application fee ($55 U.S. funds, payable to SIUC)* 3. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. 4. Student's Statement of Interest, Intent and Sponsorship (form 1) 5. Student's Resume or Vita. 6. Graduate Assistant Personal and Professional Data Sheet (form 2) 7. At least three letters of recommendation from persons who can evaluate your potential for graduate study (form3) 8. A writing sample of 1000 words or more in length. 9. GRE INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS ONLY 10. TOEFL (Required by Grad School) 11. Financial Statement (Required by Grad School) Please follow directions carefully on all forms. All application materials should be typed. Illegible application materials will be rejected. Applicants are advised to submit their application at least 12-weeks prior to the term in which they are seeking admission. Failure to do so may result in your not being admitted for the term in which you are seeking admission. Please be aware, when all application materials have been received you will be sent a verification of your application’s status. Application materials will be held in the department for a period of not less than 2 years from date of submission. * Admission to the Department of Forestry’s master degree program will not be finalized until the application fee is received. The application fee is non-refundable. ** Admission to the Department of Forestry’s master degree program is highly dependant upon a member of our faculty agreeing to chair your graduate studies committee.
