Department of Plant, Soil Science and Agricultural Systems
![]() WELCOME Welcome to the web site for the Department of Plant, Soil and Agricultural Systems. The department offers a comprehensive education leading to undergraduate and graduate degrees in two areas of study: (1) Plant and Soil Science, and (2) Agricultural Systems.
ABOUT THE PROGRAMS
The Plant and Soil Science major is designed for students who wish to work with plants from both sides of the soil line: growing and using plants, and caring for the soil by understanding its biological, chemical, and physical properties and their effects on plants. Upon graduation, students find rewarding careers in: landscape design, commercial greenhouses, nursery and garden centers, golf courses, or government agencies.
Agricultural Systems is designed for students interested in a broad range of career possibilities related to the field of agriculture. Graduates find careers in such areas as teaching at the high school level, operating a farm, media and communications, cooperative extension, social services, production, finance, or sales and marketing.
